How to Fit an Audi Plate Frame Without Drilling: A Step-by-Step Guide

Audi plate frames in this range are designed for a drill-free fit. Here's how to install one cleanly without adding holes to your bumper or plate.

What You'll Need

  • Your Audi plate frame
  • A microfibre cloth
  • Isopropyl alcohol or a similar surface cleaner

Step 1: Clean the Mounting Surface

Wipe down the area around your plate thoroughly. Dust, wax or residue left on the surface will weaken the adhesive bond and can cause the frame to lift over time.

Step 2: Dry-Fit Before Committing

Hold the frame in position around the plate without removing the adhesive backing. Confirm it sits evenly on all sides and doesn't cover any of the plate's numbers.

Step 3: Apply and Press Firmly

Remove the adhesive backing and press the frame into place, working from one side to the other to avoid trapping air bubbles. Hold firm pressure along the edges for several seconds.

Step 4: Check the Fit

Confirm the plate remains fully visible and unobstructed from a normal viewing angle, front and rear.

Let the Adhesive Set

Avoid washing the car or driving on unpaved roads for the first day or so after fitting, to give the adhesive time to fully bond.

Choosing the Right Frame Before You Fit It

Fitting only goes smoothly if you've ordered the right size and trim to begin with. Our sizing guide and S-Line vs RS comparison guide cover both before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any tools to fit the frame?
No – these frames use a drill-free, adhesive-based fit with just a cleaning cloth and the frame itself.

What if the frame doesn't sit flush?
Remove it before the adhesive fully sets, re-clean the surface, and re-fit rather than pressing over an uneven first attempt.
