How to Fit a BMW Plate Frame Without Drilling: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Fit a BMW Plate Frame Without Drilling: A Step-by-Step Guide

Every frame in the DXBStamps BMW M plate frame range is designed to fit using strong adhesive tape rather than drilling or screws, so no tools and no permanent change to the car are needed. Here is how to fit one cleanly.

Before You Start

Make sure you have ordered the correct model and size for your car, since fitting cannot correct a frame that does not match your plate area. Our guide on choosing the right size is worth checking first if you have not already confirmed which of Sport, Square or Long fits your plate.

Step 1: Clean the Plate Area Thoroughly

Adhesive tape only holds properly on a clean, dry surface. Wipe down the area around the plate to remove dust, road grime and any wax or polish residue, and let it dry fully before continuing. Skipping this step is the most common reason an adhesive frame comes loose later.

Step 2: Dry-Fit the Frame First

Before removing any adhesive backing, hold the frame in place around the plate to check the alignment and confirm it sits evenly on all sides. This is the point to catch any sizing issue before the adhesive is committed.

Step 3: Remove the Backing and Apply Firm, Even Pressure

Peel back the adhesive backing and position the frame carefully, since the tape used is designed to bond quickly and strongly. Once it is placed, press along the full length of the frame with firm, even pressure rather than just the corners, to make sure the adhesive makes full contact.

Step 4: Let the Adhesive Cure Before Driving

Adhesive tape reaches full strength over time rather than instantly, so avoid car washes or heavy rain exposure for the first day if possible, and avoid touching or repositioning the frame once it is placed.

A Note on Dubai's Climate

The frames are made from weatherproof materials designed to handle heat, dust and rain, but fitting on a hot surface can affect how the adhesive sets initially. Where possible, fit the frame in shade or during a cooler part of the day, and avoid fitting immediately after the car has been sitting in direct sun.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any tools to fit the frame?

No. The frames are designed for adhesive fitting only, with no drilling or screws required.

Can the frame be removed later without damaging the car?

The frame is designed to sit around the plate without altering the car itself. If you plan to remove it later, doing so carefully and avoiding excessive force on the surrounding trim is the best approach.

What if the frame doesn't sit flush after fitting?

This is usually a sign the size does not match your plate area rather than a fitting mistake. Check our sizing guide or contact our team to confirm the right option.
