DXBStamps' Jetour plate frames are designed to be fixed with strong adhesive tape rather than screws or drilling, which means fitting one is a job most owners can do themselves in a few minutes. Here's what the process generally involves.
Before you start
- Pick a dry, shaded spot. Adhesive bonds best when the surface isn't hot from direct sun, so early morning or a shaded car park works better than midday.
- Clean the plate area thoroughly. Dust, wax residue and old adhesive from a previous frame will weaken the bond, so wipe the area down and let it dry fully before fitting.
- Dry-fit the frame first. Hold it in position without removing the adhesive backing to check alignment and that the plate is still fully visible and legible once the frame is on.
Fitting the frame
- Peel back the adhesive backing in sections rather than all at once, so you can adjust position before it fully bonds.
- Press the frame firmly along its full edge, working from one side to the other rather than pressing the centre first.
- Hold firm pressure for the length of time recommended for the adhesive used – check with us at the time of order if this isn't specified with your frame.
- Avoid washing the car or driving on rough roads for the first day or so, to give the adhesive time to fully cure.
If you need to remove it later
Because the frame is adhesive-mounted rather than drilled in, it can be removed without leaving permanent holes. Gentle heat (such as a hairdryer on a low setting) softens most automotive adhesives and makes them easier to peel away cleanly; any residue can usually be worked off with an adhesive remover safe for your paint or plate finish.
