Organise SKU Data for a Barcode Label Order

Barcode Label Printing

Supply one clear row per item or barcode version, with the exact data and label quantity. Confirm the data format with the printer before preparing a large file.

Keep identifiers intact

Treat codes as text so spreadsheet software does not remove leading zeros or convert long numbers into scientific notation. Keep a separate product name or SKU column to help review the list. State the barcode type your system requires. Send a small sample first if the job uses changing data or several fields.

Separate unique labels from repeat copies

Make clear whether you need many copies of the same code or a different code on every label. Include the quantity for each row and explain any numbering sequence. Do not assume the printer can infer missing values or generate retail identifiers. Confirm variable-data production capability before finalising the job.

Check data and print together

Review the first, last and representative records in the proof, including long values and codes with leading zeros. Compare the printed human-readable information with the approved list. Test the finished label in the actual system and retain the approved source file for reorders. Flag any new or retired items rather than sending an ambiguous replacement list.
