Most delays in a driving school's printing order happen before printing even starts — usually because artwork or details weren't finalised. This checklist covers what to have ready.
Before You Order Student ID Cards
- Enrolment numbering format. Decide whether cards will use sequential numbers, a course code, or both, before the first batch is printed — changing formats mid-year gets confusing.
- Photo specification. Confirm whether students submit their own photo or whether one is taken on-site, and agree a consistent background and size.
- Course type field. If the school trains more than one licence category, decide how that's shown on the card (icon, text, colour coding) so instructors can tell at a glance.
Before You Order Instructor Badges
- Confirm clip vs lanyard per role, since instructors and desk staff often prefer different formats (see our badge buying guide for the trade-offs).
- Finalise the name format — first name only, full name, or full name with instructor licence number — before ordering more than a handful, since badge reprints for one person are inefficient.
Before You Order Signage
- Lock the branch layout first. Wayfinding signage ordered before a layout is finalised is one of the most common reasons for a reprint.
- Decide on bilingual wording early. If reception or safety signage will be in Arabic and English, get both versions of the wording approved internally before submitting artwork.
- Check RTA-related wording with your own compliance contact. We print to the specification a school provides, but confirming exact required wording is the school's responsibility.
Before You Order Vehicle Signage
- Confirm whether the vehicle is owned or leased — this determines whether decals or magnetic signs are the better fit.
- Measure the actual vehicle rather than relying on a generic template, since door and window dimensions vary by model.
A Simple Rule of Thumb
Anything that will be reprinted often (student ID cards) is worth getting the format right once and reusing it. Anything that's a one-off (reception signage, vehicle decals) is worth spending extra time on a proof before printing.
