Date Stamp Bands or Fixed Text: What Can You Change Later?

Date Stamp Bands or Fixed Text: What Can You Change Later?

On an adjustable dater, the date bands change, while the surrounding custom wording is normally fixed on a separate text plate. Check both parts before ordering a replacement.

For options and an order enquiry, visit Custom Date Stamps.

Separate the moving date from the wording

Rotating bands set the available day, month or year on the chosen model. The company name or label around the date does not change when you turn those bands. If the wording changes, ask whether the text plate can be replaced.

Check the model code

Photograph the body and a complete test impression. Two daters that look similar can have different pad sizes, date layouts or impression areas. The model code is more useful for checking parts than the approximate external size.

Inspect what actually needs replacing

An expired year range, weak ink, damaged mechanism and outdated wording are different problems. Describe the issue and send photographs before buying a complete new unit. Availability of replacement parts depends on the model and condition.

Review the whole new impression

If a new dater is needed, confirm the date format, year range and fixed text together. Check that long wording does not crowd the date. Keep the approved layout and model details so later pad or stamp enquiries are easier.
