Start with your approved food-label wording and the actual package dimensions. Prepare a separate, clearly named file for each product version.
Keep content decisions separate from print preparation
Resolve the applicable product and label-content requirements before sending final artwork. Printing a supplied label does not approve its claims or wording. Ask the person responsible for your product information to sign off the text, languages and version details. Use one controlled master file so an older draft is not accidentally printed.
Mark the areas that change
Identify the recipe, pack size and any fields added later during packing. Leave those areas at the position and size required by your marking process. Tell the printer how the later information will be added, because the label finish must suit that method. Keep a version list with the quantity needed for each design.
Check the printed layout on the pack
Review the actual-size proof for legibility, cut edges and placement. Check that no text or barcode sits across a fold, seam or opening. Send the package material and storage conditions with the files. Confirm the final artwork names in the order so the approved version is clear.
