Label Unwind Direction and Roll Size: What to Send Your Printer

Roll Label Printing

Unwind direction describes how a label comes off the roll. Confirm it with the equipment specification or a labelled diagram before production.

Show the direction instead of relying on a number

Different suppliers may use different numbering diagrams. Send the actual diagram your equipment uses, or photograph the roll in its working position. Identify which edge of the printed label leaves the roll first and whether labels face inward or outward. A photo of a loose roll without its feed path can leave this unclear.

Record the measurements your machine needs

Send the core inside diameter, maximum outside roll diameter, label width and height, and the gap between labels. Include liner width if the equipment specifies it. Use millimetres and label each measurement. If you only have a previous roll, tell us which details are known and which still need checking.

Approve orientation with the artwork

A portrait design can still be wound in several ways. Put the artwork next to the feed-direction diagram and confirm the pair. Ask for the final roll details in the order confirmation so a reorder has a clear reference. If labels will be applied by hand, say so; machine-specific measurements may not all be necessary.

Plan your print order

Roll Label Printing is available for customers across all of Dubai. Dubai delivery and delivery to Sharjah can be arranged with your order; ask us to confirm timing and charges.
