A paper bag needs enough room at its base as well as enough height. Send the width, side gusset and height with a photo showing where you measured.
Measure the contents first
Measure the largest item or the complete group of items that must fit. For a box, include its outside dimensions. Think about whether items sit side by side or one above another. Add the approximate filled weight and explain whether the bag will carry a rigid pack or softer items.
Label the three bag measurements
The width is the main face across the bag. The side gusset is the depth provided by the folded side when the bag opens. The height runs from the base to the top edge of the bag body. State separately if a measurement includes the handles. A marked photo prevents different measurement conventions being confused.
Check loading and carrying
Try the actual contents in a suitable sample. Check that the opening is usable, the top closes as intended if required, and the handles remain accessible. Ask for the bag construction and handle to be reviewed against the filled weight. Keep the confirmed dimensions and artwork with the order for future reprints.
