Paper labels are a useful starting point for dry boxes, bags and retail packaging. Check moisture exposure and the surface before choosing them for a product.
Match the paper to the use
For dry packaging, focus on the appearance, shape and information the label must carry. If the package enters a fridge, gets splashed or is handled with oily hands, raise those conditions before ordering. A coated paper finish should not automatically be treated as waterproof.
Plan the layout at actual size
Print a paper mock-up and put it on the package. Check whether the logo and product name remain readable and whether the label sits inside a flat area. Avoid covering folds or a box opening unless that is the intended purpose. Send separate dimensions when one design is used on different pack sizes.
Choose the supply format for packing
Tell the printer whether labels will be applied from sheets, individual pieces or rolls. Include quantity per design and any need to write or overprint information later. Ask for the finish to be checked with the intended pen or printer. Keep that detail in the order record for repeat jobs.
