Checking a Rigid Box Sample Before Production

Checking a Rigid Box Sample Before Production

Rigid Box Printing

Check a rigid box sample with the actual contents. An artwork proof helps approve print; a physical sample helps you assess fit, opening and handling.

Check the box while packed

Put every item, card and accessory in its intended position. Close the box without forcing it and check how the contents can be removed. If an insert is specified, review the fit of each opening and the support around the items. Record any change against the sample rather than relying on a verbal description.

Review visible printing and finish

Look at the cover, edges, corners and any inside printing. Check logo orientation and text when the lid is open and closed. Compare the sample with the agreed artwork and colour reference. Ask which features the sample represents if it uses a different material or process from the final production run.

Approve a clear version

Record the sample reference, dimensions, artwork version and any accepted changes. Confirm whether another sample or proof is needed after a change. Keep the approved reference for the finished-order check and future reorders. A sample approval should describe what was approved rather than simply saying the box looks good.
