Describe the moisture exposure instead of ordering by the word waterproof alone. The film, adhesive and printed finish all need to suit the job.
Splashes and condensation are different conditions
A container occasionally wiped with a damp cloth has a different use from a chilled bottle that stays wet during service. State whether labels are applied before or after chilling and whether the surface is dry at that point. Include the container material and any texture or coating.
Washing adds more variables
For washing or immersion, give the water temperature, duration and cleaning products used. If a dishwasher or freezer is involved, say so explicitly. A moisture-resistant face material does not establish how the ink or adhesive will behave under those conditions. Ask for confirmation before using a large batch.
Agree what a successful test looks like
Decide what matters for the product: readable print, edges that stay down, a barcode that scans, or a label that remains presentable after wiping. Test a finished label on the actual container under representative conditions. Record the result and the specification so future orders can be checked against the same requirement.
