Use the box for the longer message
The lid may provide more space for an occasion, company logo or short thank-you message. Ask which surfaces can be personalised on the chosen box. Check that the design still reads well around any opening, join or shaped edge.
Confirm both pieces in the quote
List the pen, box and engraving on each. Check the ink colour and any packaging included. If several sets have different names, provide a matching list for pen and lid text and confirm how the sets will be paired and identified at handover.
