Plan a poster around where people will see it. A window promotion read from the pavement needs a different amount of detail from a notice read at arm’s length.

Decide what must be noticed first
Choose the main message, such as the offer or event name. Add essential supporting details beneath it. Keep the main action visible and avoid giving every sentence the same emphasis.
Test from the intended distance
View a suitably scaled mock-up in the planned location, or ask the printer about a sample. Check contrast and the smallest text people need to read. Account for glass reflections, surrounding signs and lighting.
Make the action usable
Keep contact details readable and place QR codes where people can safely approach them. Test a printed-size code on more than one phone. Confirm the display size and material before finalising the artwork.
