Write a Clear Brief for Print Graphic Design

A useful design brief explains the printed item, its audience and what the customer should do after reading it. Send the final text and assets together where possible.

For print options and an order enquiry, visit Graphic design.

Define the deliverable

Name the item and its finished dimensions. State the number of versions, languages and pages. Explain where it will be used and the main action, such as messaging for a quote or attending an event.

Supply the working material

Include the logo, brand references, approved text and photos you are entitled to use. Label any missing content. Share a few examples and explain the specific layout or tone you like, rather than ask for an entire design to be copied.

Agree the scope before work starts

Confirm the number of design options, revision rounds, required file formats and deadline. State whether printing is part of the order. Choose one person to gather feedback and approve the final wording.
